I Mean it This Time... Forever

A poem about love, aren't there enough of these?

It is a spell,

An inevitable feeling.

It is so hard to escape from your embrace

It is so hard to unlock our lips.

Do you think we could stay like this

Forever? 

 

I knew from the start

That you were something special,

And I couldn't help but love

Everything about you.

Your laugh,

Your smile,

Your kiss,

Your eyes,

Your heart.

Will you be mine

Forever?

 

What if we ran away?

What if we disappeared together?

What if we fell off of the face of the earth?

What if we don't need anyone else?

What if we left here

Forever?

 

I hope you feel the way I do.

I hope that the next time you look at me

Your eyes will fill up with tears,

Because we both know that we can't be together.

I thought there was no such thing as too young.

The only thing I can look forward to,

My only hope, my only dream

Is that we won't be this age

Forever.

I think this might be my favorite of your poems. I like the use of repetition; it seals each verse, but you never overdo it. It's a sweet poem, an expression of an emotion I think everyone feels at some point in their life. An escape to something simpler with someone you love. Very nice.
