The damn road.

The damn road.

A Poem by Coyote Poetry

  The damn road

It was a cold winter day.  I awake with my blue eyes lover.

We lay together sharing sweet kisses.

Her beautiful young body pressing against me so tightly.

I can hear her heart beating.

I put my face into her flowing red hair.

I wished for this moment not to end.

  I found her again.

She  broke my heart years ago.

The damn road put us back together again.

I escaped to war to lose her memory and now I'm  swimming in sweet warmth of her flesh.

She told  me I must get up.

I was driving from Michigan to California this morning.

I brought her closer and  I can hear the road calling me again.

I watch my love get  dressed.

She was as  beautiful  when we were young and our hunger to love was possible.

I see in her face. The joy in your eyes to have me with her.

So funny I also saw  the desire for me to leave.

We share a meal and many tender kisses.

I wave goodbye and I saw soft tears in her eyes as I drove away..

I should have turned back and never allowed her to leave my life.

But the damn road and my heart couldn't take losing her again.

Aarh, you couldn't take losing her again. That pulls at my heart strings. At first I thought this poem was too long and too detailed, a bit like a write in a diary. Then I read it again and it grew on me. Do you know it was like you had made a video. I thought it was a very visual effective poem!

Nice. I really love the sentiments and the way you set the mood. I can almost see that blue light that comes in winter mornings as I read this.
There were a couple little things that I am pretty sure were errors, that you may want to look at:

"I see in her face. The joy in your eyes to have me with her. "- I think the "your" was meant to be "her"- or "my" because otherwise that is a strange and singular turn in who you are addressing with this poem.

" I should of turn back and never allowed her to leave my life."- "of" should be "have" "turn"-turned?.. or actually it would make way more sense just to take the of out: I should turn back and never allow her to leave my life.- you know to match up the tenses and stuff.

anyway, really lovely poem. I enjoyed reading it.

Thank you for the help. Greatly appreciated.
A powerful write here. Sometimes love is just not enough. Seeing someone you cared so deeply for years ago and realizing how many years have passed....so bittersweet! Not just the damned road tore you apart though.....it was not meant to be. Beautifully written. lydi**

While the idea of being together with an old love may sound romantic, there are things and/or relationships that are not meant to be. Very poignant write.

Thank you. You are very kind.
This is touching. I can see it like in a movie or in a tv drama series...that damn road- it made you meet again.

This is splendid, CP. The person who broke your heart is still the one who fixed it.

A very sad tale indeed. Sometimes we can go back but find that nothing is as it was. Things change. People change. And sadly, we sometimes make decisions after its too late to follow through on them. Excellent poem.
