Can't be loved

Can't be loved

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Some words.

"
                         Can't be loved

The prettiest lady I ever knew, she told me often.
Ashes to ashes,
dust to dust,
the light of love,
leave you bleeding and needing.
Fairy tale beginnings become just myth and tale.
The darkest lady I ever know, she told me.
We learn one day,
we shall steal and borrow,
lie so sweet when the night is upon us and
we will run, escape when we stole enough.
The loneliness lady I ever knew, came to me,
showed me her bare skin and she whispered to me.
"We never see the real face and we learn too late.
Maybe we wanted too little, wanted too much.
I can't be loved, dear lover.
You and I,
hit and run people,
just taking what we need.
Just ghosts upon a dream, a nightmare.

That prettiest of ladies speaks to me of one who has been so badly burned in love, she will not venture there again. She will dip her toes into the water but will not wade there, let alone immerse herself. Hit and run people, have suffered in life. They can not settle.

Coyote, what I read here is a woman who has lived a hard life, maybe not materially, but emotionally. She's been hurt and projects it in how she sees love and shows it. Perhaps it's some wisdom, too and well worth sharing. What I read most is a woman who once made herself absolutely vulnerable to another and was crushed. A profound poem worth further reflection.

Always a pleasure reading your fine lines Coyote.
Such a sad refrain as three different personalities all experience disappointment in life and love. The message a stark one that all there is is 'hit and run' relationships.
