Whiskey dreams are still the same

Whiskey dreams are still the same

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Old dreams of youth I still hold on to. Not for me this time. For my children.

"

This is a previous version of Whiskey dreams are still the same.

Whiskey dreams are still the same.

                     ( 7 Nov. 1979. Time don't change too much )

Drinking whiskey with the German Soldiers in Stuttgard.

We sing if " I were the king of the forest.

I would allow the world to be free.

We would dance and sing.

Till the light of the morning."

After the song silence overtake us.

We order more whiskey and tell stories of woman and adventure.

Iran today is holding our people hostage today.

The USA is broke with no place to seek help.

Poor Jimmy Carter had a big mess to fix.
I write some words.

'My world is crying like a forgotten child.
Crying for all the sadness surrounding each soul in this world.
Where all humans could learn to cherish life, love and kindness.
But these are the goals faded away with the memory of WW2.
Now our world seem to live for fear, threat of war and violence.
Powerful countries afraid to stop and talk peace.
A day is coming when fear and hate will blind us.
There will be no tears for the innocent in front of the War machine.
One day. Too late."

We will realize.
We are marching toward to a destine death.

My German friend give me a whiskey.
Yelled, "We are the Kings of the Forest.
Drink to peace and love.

Drink to stopping murder and violence.

Please lord. Never again."

I drink my whiskey and look around the Guesthaus.

I'm thankful for good friends and some hope.

I don't  know.

"Maybe one day man will learn a lesson.

We are just flesh and bone.

Need food and love to survive.

Not guns and hate."

Do a silence prayer for the innocent.

Coyote Poetry
A old poem when I was young and hopeful. Today I'm wiser and kinder. I still pray for peace. So my grandchildren and all children may have a fair chance at a good life.

Featured Review

This poem raises a good question...when will the world realize to stop being at war with eachother? When the time comes when we have to work together to survive....I guess it will be the survival of the fittest. I realy enjoyed this poem...I felt like I was sitting right their drinking whiskey with you

"We are marching towards a destine death." Absolutely true, and very moving. I always enjoy reading war texts, especially when they are crafted in the time of the event, or approximatively adjacent. I believe we need to read things like these, and see that war only harms, and has no resolute purpose. Your poetry makes me begin to like poetry in general even more. Thank you.

This is such a touching part of the piece...loved this alot:)!

War ii think is a resultant of other worldly evils that man cannot eradicate. Differences in opinion, racism, power lust, greed...the list is endless. We can indeed only pray that one day a race will rise that doesn't rely on worldly gains to achieve personal satisfaction. I hope that day comes soon...and from that point we can only move forwards.

Nicely written my friend. I'm with you on this one.

Amen to that brother!
i raise my glass on that, for peace and love-- all around the world.
subject like such makes me mussy and numb, a ambivalent feeling. its really aching to be beholder knowing well everything around is going wrong or someone totally misunderstood the meaning of living. so sometime i feel like posing a blindeye on these "issues" and be happy within myself. drinking whiskey and having good times with friends. being a lost kind. i try hard but those blues keep coming back. great write!

Its good to be young and hopeful and to become wiser and kinder. Times seem to repeat themselves. Same cares, same worries, same fears. You teach a good lesson here, for then and now. Well done, Coyote. :)

We do need love to survive. Without love nothing else will last. Humankind will just destroy all that is wonderful for power and greed. We can pray for peace and a chance to live happier lives. Wonderful write.

I am praying for Peace also! Now if everyone would just pray for peace the whole world would be a better place for us and our children and our grandchildren.
