Sweet red wine

Sweet red wine

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Youth is the best days in a life. Days are long. Love is possible.

"
                                   Sweet red wine

It was early fall. The sweet new wines of Germany came out.
They are cheap and tasty.
It was a beautiful late summer day.
The youth of  the city of Boeblingen surrounded the lake drinking the wine and listening to music.

I was  with my Scottish beauty.
She was so beautiful.
She held me so tightly.
We found a peace in a sweet love only
two innocent in heart can understand.

We drank the sweet red wine.
I asked her to marry me.
We sealed our two lives together,
with sweet and tender kisses.
Her sweet lips tasted of sweet red wine.

We traveled to Scotland together.
Made promises of forever to the Ivory Cliffs of Dover.
I could kiss and love my lady till we fell together in a happiness no-one
could separate.
She promised to love me forever and a day.
I told her. She would be my only sweet dream I can hold on to.

Somehow foolishness and bad timing allow us to separate.
I did not forget my promise.
Her kind memory is tattoos on my heart.
For after we separated.
I could not love anyone else.

I wished everyday to return to lake.
Drink sweet red wine.
Wrap my arms around her.
Kiss her sweet lips.
Have her warm body near.
For I cannot forget her beautiful face.

For her.
I have written a thousand words of love.
Never gave any woman what we shared and understood.

I whisper to the wind.
I pray to  the moon and the stars.
My yearning to taste sweet red wine.
Dance by the Boeblingen lake with my love.
Kiss and hold her near.
Whisper thank you  for her kindness and love for a foolish man.

This time.
I would not release her from my life.

I like the meaning of the sweet red mine.
You created an amazing scene with the pictures and your words gave it life.
The flow of your writing is brilliant, even though it was written in 1981.
Interesting idea, you mentioned the taste of the sweet red wine when you kissed her lips, rather then when you actually drank. I like the idea, it gives it more ..uhm *think of an adjective... power? It's struck me :) Excellent write :)

This piece of writing was nothing but perfect! You definitely appealed to the readers' five senses, you lift us out of the ordinary, and this totally touched my heart very deeply, it was smart to add the pictures to complete our imagination of this charming piece, thank you for sharing.

Okay when I stop crying I will be able to write on this.

:(.... :) Better..

This was simply electrifying.. The way you brought this forth, the images that flew across my mind. All I can think is WOW! Beautiful is the first to come to mind, sad, yet in a soft way soothing too. It held such a gentle touch of nostalgia to it that made ones heart weep for a lost love you keep within and then one wishes you to keep that search going to get it back. For love is so special and perfect, with the right one it is the stars and heaven and moon, it is what makes us whole and makes our soul come alive, just as this piece did for me.

Okay the tears again..

What a beautiful poem, what beautiful memories. When I read words like this I realise even more just how precious love is, how precious memories are. What treasures there are in the here and now yet. for some foolish reason, are let go but regretted; life could be so different but . choices made, we have to live with them.
' .. .. 'Kiss and hold her near. ~ Whisper thank you for her kindness and love for a foolish man. ~ This time. ~ would not release her from my life. '

In a way, you never did let her go ..

A worthy-nostalgia :) [ When the time swifts everything, We never notice that we are already far from those days , memories and people whom we were too close to.I love the piece. After, three decades of your imagination for this piece,it is still as fresh as the verdant grasses...I love the way you write..

Thank you for giving us an opportunity to go through your poem.

We make many choices that affect us in negative ways for a long time. This is a sweet romantic tale that end with a bad decision. I know this feeling but I have finally allowed myself closure after many years and ever more tears. I love the sincerity in this piece and the drifting back in time show us special moments shared.

Coyote, If you only knew how this poem mirrored my life and my circumstances...Different places for sure, but everything else....on the money
A truly touching and personal write that I will most definitely treasure and read again and again...
Thank you,
Allen
only problem..some difficulty reading stanzas on the side of the pictures..maybe making pictures a little smaller or move lines over a tad....
