I Hate that I Can't Hate You

I Hate that I Can't Hate You

A Poem by cat-a-lyst
"

About remembering and letting go, with mixed emotions.

"
From the time you said you would love me forever
And the times my heart was as light as a feather,
To the many times you broke me in two,
I hate that I can't hate you.

The days you promised the world to me,
Made me dream of how happy we'd be,
The things that you did; the things you still do
Make me hate that I can't hate you.

I fell for you long ago,
I gave my heart as well as my soul,
You took it and left me far behind
And so far, you've crossed every line.
I loved you then, but I never knew
That one day I'd hate that I can't hate you.

So you come back and look in my eyes,
You beg and plead me to forgive your lies.
Am I that naive?
Should I believe, that what you say is true?
Oh, how I hate that I can't hate you!

So this is the day.
This is when I walk away.
I don't look back as you cry my name,
And though you seem full of shame,
Seeing you cry seems brand new,
Because crying is what I usually do...
But although I can't hate, I can't love you.

This was an emotional writing for me...it seems inconsistent with its rhymes, but the feelings are there.
