strings

strings

A Poem by Cat

i'm grasping for the strings

that aren't attached,

trying frantically to

tie them to you,

before you look.

so that we are connected,

so that i have something to hold on to,

to remember you by.

something to lead me back to you.

and if you were to notice,

would you believe me

if I said that

they were there

all along?

Author's Note

Cat
Most of my poems are love-related (sue me, I'm a hopeless romantic) but this is probably my favorite of all. It's not my best (I'll say that about everything I post here) but it's the poem I left a piece of myself in. Sometimes you find yourself imagining "what if..." about that person you know will never feel the same way.
