Life

Life

A Poem by Carolann Dowsett

Where does my heart lie
where is my head
Am I really alive
or in the shadows of death

How funny life is
with all it's twist and turns
How hard we struggle
how little we learn

Is it even a reality
or a dream within a dream
An image of our souls
of what we want life to be

I wander through pathways
of shaddows and light
Reflections of our existence
spinning out of sight

I wish I could leave
escape the madness of this world
To soar within the heavens
free like a bird

But I must wait till the end
for my freedom to come
Cause there's no getting out
until the work is all done

A poem that flows well and rhymes nicely. Sometimes you can ponder too much. I do it, and I end up going round in circles. There is much to contemplate in your lines and I thank you for sharing this lovely post with us.

You are very welcome :)
True words spoken and woven into a subtle melody.
Is it all a dream? Perhaps a cruel joke? We'll just have to wait.
A marvelous creation that exposes my own hidden musings.

ha. you're telling me.
Life can be hard but it's the only game in town. Maybe one day we'll learn what the Dali Lama knows. I swear he's onto something we keep missing

There's always a refreshing honesty to your pen, you soar like a bird, and take the hard knocks that gets you there with grace. Love the dark and light of this one Carolann, affecting read.

A logical ending to this poem. I want to fly away and escape daily. Too much on my plate and I hope one day to know some peace. Thank you for sharing the realistic poem about life and hope.
