It Happened Again

Just trying to shed some light on a major issue.

He awoke that day at exactly 7:05AM
Jumped in the shower, got ready and made himself a PB & jam
His mother told him “hurry up and get going, you’ll be late for class”
He said “okay Ma, just gotta grab something out of my room real fast”
Fast forward 10 minutes, he’s half way to school
Mr. Johnson, the postman, yells out “Hello there Brucie. How are your parents doing?”
But the kid shrugged him off, he seemed on a mission
The postman noticed a troubled look on the teens face
But he could never have guessed what was about to take place
Bruce makes it to school, and instantly a fire starts in his gut
When he sees a group of seniors who are everything that he’s not
His palms got sweaty, and his legs were full of tension
Today he’s sworn to make himself a legend
He walks over to the group, opens his bag and pulls out his father’s Smith & Wesson
He c***s a round into the chamber and starts firing into the crowd
No need to aim though, any target will do
One minute into the madness and he’s already killed two
He feels invincible as he reloads his gun and walks up and opens the door
Young Brucie rejoices, there are targets galore
He opens fire inside of the hall taking lives at will, showing zero remorse
Blood curdling screams and panic ensues
It’s happening again and still no one knows what to do
The killer looks on with a twisted pride as teachers and fellow students lay on the floor dying
He knew right then he accomplished what he came for....
First responders show up and it’s absolute shock and awe
But nobody except those poor children who were lucky enough to survive will ever understand the terror involved
The numbers come out, seven injured and twelve dead
not including the shooter who took his own life at the end
The community is outraged, how could this be allowed to happen again?
So sick of the violence, when will this end?
How many times must this happen before something is changed
Children dying as they learn is nothing short of a disgrace
Something needs to be done to stop these tragedies now
And I wish I had the answers to teach the world how
