Darkness, my old friend.

Darkness, my old friend.

A Poem by CHANDNI SETHI

Under the pretext of new friendships,
She tried to hide herself from her shadow.
She made them see a world a smiles,
Wishing all they saw in her was a friend.
The truth struck her hard when she came home.
The doorbell never rang, the phone never made a sound.
"I showed them my soul, what was missing?" She thought.
"Maybe that's not what I deserve."
Hour after hour, she waited for things to change.
The darkness talked to her when no one else did.
She clung on to the hope of finding love some day,
Painting with her imagination on the blank canvas of her walls.
She was an open book people refused to read,
The flame within her faded, burning away her canvas with the last of its sparks.
She smiled back at darkness as it walked towards her,
"It's fine, I'll be your friend." It said.

I enjoyed this story in the poem and I liked the ending.
"She was an open book people refused to read,
The flame within her faded, burning away her canvas with the last of its sparks.
She smiled back at darkness as it walked towards her,
"It's fine, I'll be your friend." It said."
The above lines is true for the all of us. We need to be seen. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
