Fish dinnerA Poem by Chandra Tutu LatkeAnimals
I seduce the color red
I make offerings to the color black . I live in the silver of the cats green eyes As he pounces on his prey I delve into the lipstick on the goat Such shimmering, gleaming hues The pigs sleep on the couch, and I pout The b******s are eating bacon again For breakfast They named them Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Such hypocrites, they want a new fluffy Baby chick like the neighbors do I shudder over the sadistic grins the horrid screams... I make offerings to the color black , I seduce The color red but I wonder what fish THINK as they are pulled from that dark abyss, and the blue spume in their wake A muticolored array of rainbow delight Do they wonder, at all What am I going to eat tonight... © 2015 Chandra Tutu Latke |
