Prophets of Old

Prophets of Old

A Poem by Childish Eccentricity
"

The thoughts of a man who has lost all hope in humanity and sees the evils of the world as they are. He is in wait for the end so that new life, untainted by the present may rise once more.

"
Running off the road
And into the woods
To seek shelter
From those I fear
For if they find me
It will mark my end
So has been foretold
By the prophets of old

Searching inside myself
For the light of life
Lost in the darkness
Without hope or spark
A lonely existence
Am I forced to lead
So has been foretold
By the prophets of old

A look of despair
Forever on my face
Woven into being
By the threads of fate
I cannot escape it
For it is destined to be
Controlled like a puppet
By the strings of its master
To break free is futile
To attempt is to be shunned
By society at large
And by humanity the world over
So has been foretold
By the prophets of old

Lost in time are
The memories of days
Freely walked I
Unburdened by fate
The weight of sins
Gradually built
Did weigh on my shoulders
To carry them till I die
No redemption there be
So has been foretold
By the prophets of old

All have demons
The demon am I
To hell and below
Did my demon come and go
From the depths of Tartarus
It rose its head
To play with my life
And on my sorrows it fed
To combat the demon
Only one can do
Made of all that is pure
Untainted by the world
Burn the demon it will
So has been foretold
By the prophets of old

Through clear eyes
The world I see
For all is deceit
Villainy, lies and treachery
The Gods up high
When this paradise built
Hoped for harmony and love
Vengeance will strike
For all who have wronged
The world will strike back
And play everywhere
Will Death's song
So has been foretold
By the prophets of old

The world we may have
In our hands to control
But one day
Must we return
To the sands
From whence we came
To be buried
Like the pharaohs of old
So has been foretold
By the prophets of old

Heal will the world
From injuries inflicted
Upon it by man
And all that he built
No longer will they remain
To further taint
Rise will mankind
From the ashes of its past
To lead the world
Into light and glory
So has been foretold
By the prophets of old

Author's Note

Childish Eccentricity
The stanzas are kinda uneven, but is it necessary? Does it affect one's perception of a poem?
Also, I just wanted to know whether there's any concept about the immoral society of today that I have missed.

Hope you like it.

no.. I like that the stanzas are uneven. different parts need more or less thought.. this is really good.. taking a very large picture and narrowing it down to this.. very thought provoking.
