Life Lessons

This is about struggling with the obstacles in life and trying to learn from every day experiences despite how much it seems life fights you.

Life teaches me lessons every day.

I try to listen to the way,

Find the path I'm meant to follow,

Before life gulps me up in one big swallow.

It seems the harder I try,

The more life passes me by.

Sometimes I miss life's little lessons,

So I try harder to listen to its' confessions.

Some days life seems to scream at me,

Guiding me through what I can't foresee.

Other days I can't even hear it's whisper,

These are the times I start to whimper.

When life chooses not to answer to my sobbing,

I scream until my throat is throbbing.

When shouting provides me with no relief,

Life steals my hope like a thief.

Then an ember burns deep within me,

Lighting the path to be set free.

I will keep my faith and my dreams,

No matter how bleak it seems.

Author's Note

I wrote this recently, but feel like the ending stops abruptly. Please let me know what you think, this is the first poem I have written in 10 years and would love some feedback.
