Lasting Memories

Lasting Memories

A Poem by Cherin
"

My friend, Gail, just passed away Sunday morning in her sleep. She was 52. It wasn't such a shock, until I started to relive our friendship through this poem I made for her, to place into her casket. I will miss you Gail!

"

It no longer matters, what "They" think
Nor does it matter, what "They" say.
Your true friends, are here, with family
As we grieve, for you, today.

Your life was filled with struggles
Never giving up the fight.
You always did the best you could
To make everything alright.

And here i sit with memories
A friendship, from the start.
For someone I met long ago
Whom I placed within my heart.

Remember:
Posthouse in the morning?
Capriotti's for our lunch?
Wednesday Nights at Tonik's?
And Talmo's with the BUNCH!?

The Shoot & Stab with all your friends
Or watching Stink get fatter?
The times I drove you up a wall
Just to watch your face get madder?

You never made it to my cookout
Last year around this time.
I know your life was hectic,
Very busy - just like mine.

Pages of our lives kept turning
As the years went by.
Distance made from choices taken
Caused the time to fly.

Now everything is quiet
I can hear your laugh no more.
I will cherish all our memories,
And our friendship, thats for sure!

And when I get to heaven
I will look you up again.
Because you meant that much to me...
Because you were "My Friend!

This is a very sad and touching dedication to your friend. Your words are so beautiful that they cause tears to drip on this page. To have a friend like you is a wonderful joy and she will love your words for all eternity.

Wow, this was amazing!
One of the best things I've probably ever read. It had so much love in it!

I could tell immediately that she meant a lot to you, and I'm sure that she's waiting in Heaven for you. =D

Sorry about your friend, but you'll get through this. Just remember all the good times with her, like you did in this awesome poem!

Well done; sometimes when grief hits, it's hard to find words to describe what you're feeling and how much that friend meant to you. You recalled all the good times, and that means she will live in your heart as long as you remember.

My sincerest condolences, Cherin.
