Vegetarian Vampires

Vegetarian Vampires

A Poem by Frontier

Meet the living plants, the vegetarians,

People who have been

covered by, must be covered by, roots,

along their entire bodies.

 No surface of skin

can betray their animal origin. It

burns with the unprocessed,

unadulterated light of the sun: they are

it’s chosen ones,  the sun is the  proud sower and reaper.

So closely do they follow it’s light, that golden wings have

sprouted from their minds, looking like huge rabbit ears,

animals known to feast on fruits and veggies.

Sentient, innocent animals such as chickens

have become their “conversation-starter” pets,

cluck cluck cluck….all around the clock.

Straws as long as vintage

cigarrete-holders aid the

consumption of the materia prima.

Plants don’t consume, they produce

they don’t grow old and wrinkly,

they just change color,

plants don’t have to rely on gut-feeling,

they never had guts to begin  with.

I love everything about this piece, the picture definitely synchronizes with the poem.
It`s true plants could never be as poetic as us, never have to have guts. I guess you're saying that today`s generation are mindless and know nothing of glory even if it killed them ."Straws as long as vintage
cigarette-holders" made me think of how toxic people are , even to themselves and "No surface of skin
can betray their animal origin" - without the surface, midless gutless, instead of people you would call them "plants" would just fall.

your welcome, i cant wait to see more of your poems ;)
As always your work is colourful and imaginative, and one can usually find some degree of irony in every piece...this one was a bit more wry, which I'm always game for...love the 'unprocessed' sun, and the ending is killer...it reminds me a bit of Margaret Atwood, who's best-known for her novels, but her poetry is great as well and also heavy on irony and wit...nicely done my friend :)

Very good title and interesting poetry. I like when we leave nature alone. She create art and beauty for us to see and behold.

Quirky, your title drew me in, I was so hoping it'd be about annoying vegans. Good protoplasm here.
