The Heartache of Love

You know I’m here for as long as I can

To make you smile when times are bad

My soul mate you are, so please understand

My heart just wont let me make you feel sad

I can’t tell you things that I know will just add

To the heartache and grief that you already have

I can’t, nor wont ever make you cry

My dreams all entail your beautiful smile 

I cant be the person who adds to your woes

This isn’t your worry so I cannot impose

The problems I have and my wounded soul

I will get through whatever my future does hold

I will do it alone just myself and my hope

For as long as you’re happy, forever I’ll cope

In the short but colourful life that I’ve had

I appreciate the good times and even the bad

The past times of pain, I thought forever would stay

I never imagined I’d reach twenty eight

The mistakes that I've made, I know that they're vast

But however much shameful, they’re all in the past

They’re the reasons behind the Man that I am

The realisation and understanding of life’s master plan

For in the end it was fate that led me to you

An un-dieng love that will always be true

From the moment we met, I would have given up my life

To make you feel happy and special inside

For my soul reason in life is making you smile

To make you feel happy and never feel down

To protect you forever, always be there for you

To show you a love so precious and true

To tell you each day the dazzling beauty that’s you

These words that I say will forever be true

For you my angel, you’re my heart and soul  

We gave each other contentment neither had known

For whatever now the future does hold

Just know that my heart will always be yours

Like an eternal candle that’s shining so bright

In this life and the next I’ll be there by your side

A love that’s so strong it could never wilt or die

There’s a star in the sky that’s just yours and mine

This really is beautiful.
In particular I found the third verse to be extremely relatable and the last verse to be very touching.
Verse three's ideas of past pain sculpting the person you are now really struck a chord with me and I'm sure most would be able to relate to it.
The final verse is really lovely, hinting nicely that your love transcends time, giving the poem more depth.

I am a Hopeless Romantic so I loved this piece.
