SWEET MEMORY

SWEET MEMORY

A Poem by Christina Braceros

i bite my tounge and just boil in silence

i feel the pressure push against my chest

feel my heart beat, hard

i feel the pins and needles

nausea and bitterness

but i swallow the tonic with out a flinch

the bitterness taints my already fragile demeanor

but your sweet memory is that twinkle of yet

yet smothering flame it is

yet sweet memory dont fail me now

have me cling to this last bit of hope

as if it was my sorry life line

what is there to gain from my stubborness

my lack of finding myself

am i afraid of myself

sweet memory that haunts my nights

that ever so lightly veils my mind
