The storm

The storm

A Poem by Chyla

The Rain before the hurricane

The wind before the tornado

The laughs before the pain

The static on the radio

To the frightened children at play

Go hide beneath your bed

Your games can continue another day

The storm is up ahead

For now the houses stands tall

sturdy as can be

but watch them crumble, watch them fall

as far as the eye can see

The laughter stops, all is quite

The grass swaying, slow and weak

Among the storm begins a riot

behind the clouds the sun does peak

 windows shatter The structures fall

as memories begin to blow away

for a house that once stood so tall

and skies once so blue... fade to gray.
