Cause and Effect

Cause and Effect

A Poem by Citty

A whisper in the wind

A swaying blade of grass

I hear birds chirping

They swoop from branch to branch singing their songs ever so sweetly

Each song is different and new yet has the same grace and charm as the last

A sweet soft whistle, a loud abrupt chirp, A repeating tweet in sync with the beat of my heart

I hear the rustling of leaves as the wind blows softly

The trees whispering secrets to the vast green forest

Secrets I will never understand

I hear animals scurrying along the ground

The cracking of twigs and the pitter patter of their little feet

I hear the music of nature radiating throughout my heart and soul

A whisper in the wind

A swaying blade of grass

I smell the flowers

Their sweet aroma fills the air

The very nature of the smell relinquishes the negativity held within my skull

The lavender, earthy and grounded, calm my racing mind

The rose buds, light and sweet, fill my heart with joy and bliss

The daffodils, spicy and playful, fill my soul with inspiration and drive

I smell the sweet perfume of life spawning from the endless plants nurtured from this earth

A whisper in the wind

A swaying blade of grass

I feel the soft grass on the tips of my fingers, gently being blown by the breeze

Swaying ever so freely and loose

I feel the earth below me, the soil soft and firm

Keeping me grounded and comforting my physical being

I feel the warmth of the radiant sun as its rays kiss my skin ever so softly

Like pure happiness being soaked into my soul

I feel the rhythms of the wind, sun and earth balanced delicately, working in harmony

A whisper in the wind

A swaying blade of grass

I taste the sweet berries in the field

Only ripe for a short wisp of time

The blackberries, powerful, juicy, and tart pack a punch to my taste buds

The raspberries, soft and delicate, envelope my tongue in a sweet and slightly sour juice

The blueberries, sweet and mild, fill my stomach quickly

I taste the labors of life, the energy stored in the bonds of time

A whisper in the wind

A swaying blade of grass

I see…..

I open my eyes

The birds are no longer chirping

The flowers are no longer blooming

The grass has dried up and degraded away

The berries have rotted and decomposed

The sky is dark and filled with smog

I hear alarms sounding in the distance

I smell smoke and rotting garbage

I feel the cold hard earth below me

I taste the bitter sweet end of my world as I know it

A shout lost in the wind

A strip of dirt on the ground
