Silent Burdens

Silent Burdens

A Poem by Claire in VA
"

My thoughts about recent suicides.

"
self-assured father of two teens doting, providing
victorious coach of the year, training
esteemed public servant, laboring
beloved son of loving parents seemingly
broken heart

published author of stories and poems entertaining, teaching
admired mentor to the under-privileged uplifting
precious son of a gracious mother comforting
sweet child of God eternally
chronic pain

devoted mother of children leading, nurturing
sought-after nurse of our elders, rehabilitating
endearing angel of the Lord with song, praising
enamored daughter of prosperous surgeons, both, healing
addiction

obliging assistant of teachers, slaving, encouraging
diligent student of Liberty, learning
treasured only child, their life, centering
valued friend of everyone, lighting
poverty

invisible villains approached them haunting
their days appeared pleasant, their nights daunting
try as they might to discount the demons
their sensitive spirits fractured.

I've lost 4 friends to suicide all within the last 4 weeks. I am only a friend. I can only imagine what their families and loved ones are feeling. It's devastating. This poem introduces you to the 4 friends. It seems like they had it all. Each one bore a silent burden. Let's not judge people by appearances. Let's try to see into their hearts. While I appreciate and want reviews, please try to remember that my emotions are completely RAW at this time. Thank you. :)

This is a great way to honor your friends and to share with people how these things affect not only the main individual involved but those around them. It's hard to lose those you care about, I haven't personally lost anyone in the way you have, but my best friend died freshman year of high school and that was extremely difficult. (she had severe Asthma and went into cardiac arrest) I can only say that I pray your pain eases with time.

I give a 100% rating because I love raw:) This was a very profound write, I felt it Claire you did an amazing job:) I understand this all to well about the pain. At one time in my life I went through many other pains of heart break to being alone. I wanted to die so bad. I tried many times, Had a gun but the shell didn't go off. I tried many other ways but God came in and stopped it all. That was a long time ago , I could never take my life now I have thoughts that it may send me to hell, Idk where a person goes that does this I wont get into all that but personally its not right. I tell a lot of people now a days I want to go home, I want to go where their is no more pain hurt being shadow casted and stone to death, But I will go when God says its my time. Your work speaks volumes:)

This is such a beautiful tribute you have paid to such a Hero's in their own world, My heart feel really extremely sad when someone take such a bold step. May their souls rest in peace and may this world open his eyes and can see, why and on what stage these people went to end their lives. You have penned it very well, my humble condolences to their family and as you can see I already have a group here called help for suicidal, please feel free to share your heart and anything i can do count me in...
