Different

Different

A Poem by Clare Owens
"

This popped into my head in a tune reminiscent of Bob Dylan's Shelter from the Storm for one reason or another.

"

I have often questioned the way things have to be
Why everyone is different, why everyone's not me
But then I do remember all the mistakes that I've made
Not everyone sees the blue blue sky and prays to God for rain

There is a time for dreaming, a time for letting go
When you can be a hero not the coward that you know
Not everyone can do it, but my lord yes I can
The only thing is living in my head is not the safest plan

They say that I'm a loner, that I should get some friends
They say the world is easier if you don't face it on your own
But I can't see their logic so I throw it to the wind
They've never seen it through my eyes or been the way I've been

I really like your rhythm and structure, and I like your summarizational way of speaking. I feel like I already know you by the time I get to the second stanza. It's a unique way of wrtiting. I hope you continue to explore it, because I'd like to see more of it.

This was an excellent piece! From what I can see this is great for being just a rough draft (unedited).
Welcome to the site and keep up the good work.
I'm looking forward to reading more of your work!

Unedited? This is good for a draft. Welcome to the site and I would love to read more of your work. You've said a lot in a few stanzas; I think you got your point across just fine without making it any longer. Sometimes the art of poetry is knowing when you're done with a piece; it's like a magic instinct, knowing when to stop and when to keep going. Kudos on your poem.

A lovely first poem, Clare! You've relayed more than one helpful wisdom here, and for that I thank you. And, as though I am anyone qualified to say so, welcome to the site!
