Revival

Revival

A Poem by ClaudiaNYC

As my eyes began to flicker, the insensitivity of the fluorescent lights scorched them
Instantaneously, the smell of sterile alcohol bound to the metallic inhalation of blood rapidly engulf me
I glanced over and witnessed bags of still, smooth waters were sustaining me
I was slowly transforming into a new creature

with a forked tongue I demanded
to give me crown of poppies
A blizzard had deluged my world on the hottest of summer days

I had lost all glory and any hope or any joy
The light within me grew dangerously dim renounced any honors and - any voice
I clicked my heels and wanted to go home
The relentless doldrums that stalled me curiously began to shift

A small whisper grew so bold, it caressed and tamed the most jagged parts of me
In my stillness, confidence materialized, into something upon which to construct
What honey is found in the sweet of silence
That nectar of truth
The forbidden delicacy of love
For I not drink tar again

Benigness washed over me, delivering with it a vast of unfeigned, and warm affections
Now, I wake in the fertility of dawn, its warmth, and beauty inserted deep into the marrow of me; elevating my essence
On a kind, gentle night I rest, as it softly lulls me to sleep; in our secret pact of tranquility
Finally - I am soothed
