Diamondback

A Poem by Clayton Anderson
"

A poem about the feelings of toxicity and depression in life.

"

Diamondback

I feel toxic.

Everyone avoids me.

Everything is better without me.

I can't let people near me anymore,

If I do they'll start to hate me.

Nobody understands me,

They all cling to preconceived notions.

Sometimes I feel as if I am covered in scales,

Or have a rattle bound to me.

That would explain a lot.

I'm not poisonous,

I'm not deadly,

I don't have fangs or piercing yellow eyes.

I'm only human.

Why does everyone hate me?
