Jumper

Jumper

A Poem by Emma Grace Tennyson

The wind is taunting me

I step up to the railing
Zephyrs whisper to me

Another voice encouraging

I keep balance, but just barely

Below a swirling gurgle

Laughs at my small figure
The mouth is open, waiting for it's feast

How will I feel when breath is gone?
I sigh and close my eyes

"Yes. Do it now."
"Why should I leave?"
"Hush. It will be better."
My shoulders bear the fighting forces
They tangle in my mind

My neurons putrid, synapses snapped
How safe it must feel to fall
I smile and walk along the railing
A gust nearly knocks my body into blue
I crouch and hold to bitter iron

A tear sprints across my cheek
I stand again

And close my eyes
And leap for all I'm worth
Arms stretched to my sides

I fly
I feel the air explode around me
How long will this last?
I'm at peace because I know
This river will keep me accept me

Like no one ever has

It is a noticeable departure from the usual, lacking the pattern and rhyme scheme you practice. and it definitely reads darker, the theme IS darker than your previous works. However, that doesn't make it any less worthy of my praise. Nicely done.

Thank you. :)
This is a beautiful poem. It flows extremely well and has a dark underlining tone to it, which fits it. Overall I really enjoy this piece. Well done :)
