Broken Mirror

Broken Mirror

A Poem by Coldwind

Broken mirror on the floor

No need to keep you anymore

Shining there, your silver light,

Clasped now in my hand so tight

Reflecting back a hundred eyes

Of pain, of horror, and surprise

Of realization that, just like me,

Youu broke appart - not meant to be

Not meant to be, but living still

No accident but force of will

I've put my pieces back in place

Wiped blood and tears from my face

Refused to just be swept asied

Distilled the truth from those who lied

Would not be brought low by hate

Would not leave my life to fate

I took this hill, I fought alone

I, the soldier, not unknown

These battle scars I proudly bare

Hide other wounds that once were there

Battered yes, but not undone

I chose to fight and not to run

So put away your silver sheen

And remove the shards that fell between

Your images are dull and faded

My eyes are dry, the storm abated

Inside I hold an image far more true

Than any that I saw in you

This image clear, it serves to ground me

Though led astray, tis I who found me

About
Somehow, life has gotten in the way of my writting. Even if just for preserving myself, I thought I would make time. I see a lot of beauty in the darker things in life, and growing up watching horro.. more..
