hope infects

hope infects

A Poem by Daniel Atkinson
"

damned hope.

"
like mildew in my coffee-stain mind,
hope festers.
hope infects.
like a pissed-off mute,
hope spits
but it doesn't scream.

like a sour dying b*****d,
hope clings.
hope curses.

hope hates.

You include such great adjectives like "coffee-stained". By using such everyday-feeling adjectives, you give abstract personification of hope a much more imminent and real feel.

I imagine a sly parasite that slowly takes you over.

But is it really that bad, if hope takes you over, if hope infects you and festers in the back of your mind?

Pessimistic for sure, but is it wrong I throughly enjoyed it, it reminds me of observations from most poets I know! Well done, good read.
