time: foaming, writhing

time: foaming, writhing

A Poem by Daniel Atkinson
"

time just gets away from us.

"
the waves age indifferently.

they have seen the world

and still have pains in the night.

lovers have come and gone

and returned and passed away

like a whistle in a canyon wind.

they foam and writhe,

and through all this heartbreak,

i'm wrinkling in the sun and salt.

i'm darkening and 70 is just a kiss away.

the night is a pious lover.

i want to sleep with the waves,

make love with the tide

and fall asleep not knowing its name.

it's just a breath in a bottle,

whispering:

“it all ends tonight.”

Somebody is channeling the soul of a man who passed on years ago, but lived to be a ripe old age. Nice work, Cole.
