Learning To Love Again

I started this one a really long time ago so I dont remember everything I was planning to do with it. I can't let it go though so I have been trying to pick it up on and off again.

Prologue

     "You must leave. I truly want you to Peter." Lady Rachel Vixenburg told her companion.

     "Do not lie to me, Rachel. I know you better then you think I do." Peter O’Conor said, trying to desperately believe what he was saying.

     "You think I lie? Every word I say is true. I would have preferred we parted in friendship, but I now see we must end all contact as soon as possible." Rachel could not believe how convincing she sounded, even to herself.

     "You want me gone?" Peter asked. Rachel nodded, not trusting herself to speak. "Fine, consider me out of your live." He said, walking out of the room. Rachel didn’t watch as he got into his carriage, and tears flooded her eyes. Stephan, her brother, walked into the room moments after.

     "That seemed to go well." He said, dryly. Only then did Rachel look out the window, where Peter had just disappeared. She was unable to speak and she was having a difficult time holding back the flood of emotions building behind her eyes. Stephan sat in one of the cushioned chairs and watched his sister with no emotions playing in the secret depths of him.

     "Cook says dinner shall be on the table shortly, mi’ lord." Kelsey, the housekeeper said from the doorway. Stephan nodded to the women and rose.

     "You might wish to wash before you attend table, Rae. No doubt father will disapprove otherwise." He said, leaving the room. Rachel sat a moment, continuing to stare at the open street, possibly hoping to see Peter coming back. When Kelsey came back into the room, she opened her arms to Rachel, only the way a mother would, and sat letting her cry her pain away.
