This Girl

This Girl

A Poem by Colie
"

Sometimes our reflection reveals more...

"

There is this girl I know

I see her everyday

She looks at me

With a smile upon her face

But whats she tries to do

Is she tries to hide that pain

that she has built up inside

that keeps eating her away

She stares back at me

Pretending she is fine

But she wears a mask

That shields the truth inside

She tugs at her stomach

Wishing it wasn’t there

She believes that she is fat

But she tries not to shed a tear

She looks up at her face

With no makeup to be found

She knows that she is ugly

She just fades in the background

She hates herself

She hates the way she looks

She knows no one can love her

This is no fairytale in a book.

There is this girl I know

I see her reflection everyday

She looks at me

With a smile upon her face.

Wow. So powerful. I love how you build up the sadness and emotion :) Nicely penned.
