P.T.S.D Took the Life out of Me

P.T.S.D Took the Life out of Me

A Poem by Colorado Brian
"

According to numbers released by the Department of Veterans Affairs, roughly two young veterans a day commit suicide. The suicide rate among veterans remains well above that for the general populatio

"

He graduated high school

And left a life of luxury

Volunteered to serve his country

Then he died at twenty three

His best friends were all soldiers

They fought in foreign lands

These men and women bolder

Worked together, hand in hand

Around him there was violence

It was a horrible sight to see

Amid the chaos, silence

Now he suffers, P.T.S.D

Bombs go off with a violent explosion

This is terrible to me

Death and suffering, Mind and Body erosion

P.T.S.D took the life out of me

Lives are torn apart

When you're fighting to be free

You form an ice cold heart

When you suffer P.T.S.D

Some people tried to help him

He was troubled, they could see

His Mother & Father loved him

When he died, from P.T.S.D

His brother and sister knew

He was troubled, they could see

They didn't know what to do

When he died, from P.T.S.D

His wife and children cried

How could this possibly be?

A husband and father died

Because he suffered from P.T.S.D

Bombs go off with a violent explosion

This is terrible to me

Death and suffering, Mind and Body erosion

P.T.S.D took the life out of me

If only they had gotten the Memo:

War is not for Fun

War is not a Game

War is not a Mechanism

To seek Fortune & Fame

Men & Women Fighting

Many of them are maimed

Most of those who live through it

Never come back the same

The reasons we are Fighting

Most of them are Lame

Focus on the Reasons

Let's start placing Blame
