Chaos and confusion, Death and destruction

They're killing at work

And killing at home

Evil amongst us roam

Where can we go where people speak out

Raising awareness to fight the good fight

In the darkest places

Shining a hopeful light

The internet pages, of all places

From around the world gather faces

Lending one and all a voice

Teaching some, they do have a choice

 

A Meeting of the Minds

Leading others to Better Times

 

Child abuse is not okay

A poem can reinforce this lesson today

Shooting family or total strangers

Education can prevent this danger

 

Death of the masses

Caused by warring factions

In far away lands

Places we don't know

The written word can bring a call for action

Enable the human mind to grow

 

Social media can be stronger than a politician

Enlighten downtrodden people

Create a vision

Use this tool to end a violent tradition

I believe that social media is one of the best tools we have for promoting peace. It enables people of all cultures of countries to meet and talk with one another.

I was inspired to write this after reading the work of poetry writers from around the world, particularly in war-torn nations of the Middle East and Africa. They talked about using poetry to communicate to their own people that their situation is terrible, and they need to work together to remedy it. I have been reading a lot of poetry on facebook over the past 6 months, but had not found a lot of what I seem to enjoy, style wise. I came across Writers Cafe yesterday and this seems to be the place where there is a great deal of talent to enjoy.
