Miles of Silence

Miles of Silence

A Poem by Marleigh
"

First attempt at ever doing this.... writing outside of a business setting, intrinsic and personal

"

remember the night, every smell

even the light

young, untouched, until your eyes met mine

you grabbed my hand and our hearts merged

saving me from my dry adolescence and instantly falling.

No one could deny the connection

even the two people who were protecting me against it

we knew each other, past lives, more than young love

devoted notes written with your calloused hands

your heart was mine, I was only yours,

Looking back it sure was messy, as growing up can be

but it was real

with miles of silence now between us,

age and responsibility filling our days

still, you are with me each move I make

Years develop, off to grow, goals achieved and failed

accidents happened, life built walls around us, around my heart

now I see timing was not in our favor

no matter, years later it was real

your love was unmatched

Complication came with friends

Stars aligned and family kept us apart

Pending fork in the road, I went right, you left.

Light connectivity but nothing to fight for, drained lost empty

when for me my future arrived and I grasped on to the good,

Looking back it sure was complicated as growing up can be

but it was real

with miles of silence between us,

kids and relationships defining our days

still, you are with me each move I make.

10 years, moved on fulfilled

living life as one would only hope

still the star in all of my dreams

without a shadow of a doubt, you feel it too

but it will never move from there

I've given my life to someone good; I will not be selfish

you will always be miles of silence away but undeniably, you are with me, each move I make
