A Poem by Nick Almanza

They talked About it

They wondered about it

They did it

All around me

I can see it in their eyes

Smell it on their clothes

See the very composition

Running through their viens

Their questions

Their proposals

" Do it" They said

" Come on, you know you want to "

No was my reply

But it never stoped

Still they said

Curiosity filled my mind

Stoped it

Whispered " What if? "

Their feeling

I wanted to feel the same

So it happened

To quick to react

To judge

To think

And i was gone

Dead

Free

The world was a blur

Gravity had no purpose on me

Vivid colors of the nightlife

The feeling burning inside me

It was great

Yet horrifying

It went on

For months

Late nights

Lauging at the world

That couldnt seem to catch me

The mother Caught on

Questions were asked

To many to take

I snapped

Yelled

What have i become?

I looked at her

As tears rolled from her eyes

She slapped me

Over and over

" Where is my son? "

She screamed

" What happened to my caring loving boy? "

I could not reply

I've lost her trust

But who cares?

When paper touches lips

Tounge catches pills

Needle touches vein

When it is all taken in

Everything else is lost

And we become something we never wanted

Only to hurt everyone close
