Clockwork

Clockwork

A Poem by Briana Noël Manzano
"

Reflecting on my life, my procrastinating disposition, lack of motivation, the strange way we perceive the passage of time, and the realization that the indeterminable amount of time I have dwindles.

"

Tick.

Tick.

Tick.

The clock looms over me-

Disapproving.

The seconds run circles around

The minutes trudge circles around

The hours crawl circles around

The clock looms over me-

Taunting.

Tick.

Tick.

Tick.

A life began.

A life ended.

A moment passed.

Tick.

Tick.

Tick.

An endless staring contest.

Arbitrary passage of time.

A list of things to procrastinate.

Tick.

Tick.

Tick.

Still I do not move,

Waiting till the last minute.

There is no last minute.

Every minute is the last minute.

Tick.

Tick.

Tick.

The clock looms over me-

Reminding.

Tick.

Tick.

Tick.

The clock becomes silent.

I close my eyes.
