Love once lived.....

Love once lived.....

A Story by Constance Payne

the story could be anyone's or no one's....

A simple box of four walls; standing through the test of time, the elements of life, and the years successively following. Once, long ago, inside the walls Love ran wild.
Listen with your heart and you can almost hear the sound of joy as a new born baby cries, the laughter of children as they play and grow, or the songs of celebrations of life being lived.
Picture eyes brightening from the expectation of the gift at Christmas, a visit from relatives ~ cousins seldom seen but lovingly accepted as friends, or the birth of a new calf or foul adding youth in a grand way. The heartbeat of a teenage girl as her beau comes to meet the parents of the one he loves and wishes to build a life with.
Imagine if you will the lady of these walls, pride expanding as she places furniture perfectly for her guests and family to enjoy the company of one another. Photographs, framed with care, placed gingerly around the rooms filling them with a legacy to be remembered for generations. Colors cautiously chosen presenting a style from within a loving heart of the lady she is.
Take your thoughts to the man of this place. Strong, loving, working the land so his wife and children have all they need. Building a legacy he hopes his children’s children will understand. Walking through the door his heart jumps and eyes light at the beauty he sees, if only in remembrance of a promise from youth. The girl of his dreams now stands before him as the mother of his children and the keeper of his history. Smiling he wraps his arms around this strongly soft beauty who hold his heart in all its glory.
A love lived here, now long forgotten as the generations have followed paths of their own design; these lovers become a part of the legacy that was began long previous, framed to be remembered by those who they once worked and loved for.
Love Lived Here, now shaded to gray in forgotteness…..

I think old houses are great ways to brainstorm stories. You can't help but wonder, who lived here and where are they now? I would love to see you take this and rather than asking the reader to "imagine" things, tell your own story. Who were the characters that lived here? What was the teenaged daughter's name and did her date come to escort her to prom? I think you have a great canvas here to launch an incredible story.

Thank You, I currently have one in the works like that.
How nice! Reminds me of the phrase "If these walls could talk", and the reply from those wall is so sweet and sentimental.
