The Tender Bough

The Tender Bough

A Poem by Corset

He was nothing more than skin and bones
black as the stormy night that bore him,
pulled his kicking body from the wreckage
that was his mother, silently screaming
into the darkness of this world. Just a babe
and nothing more, from the womb just like
every other. Born with teeth into every
relationship, born to struggle into every
lie and that's why we're here
lamenting the tempest, Silver spoons
create the sharpest blades to fall upon.
Mothers, do not feed the world with fairytales,
the reality will often break the tender bough.

Born with a silver spoon in his mouth.. wonder how old that quote is?? You'd think it would tarnish into nothing by now.. but no.. if anything has multiplied over time. So many like that think they own the world, but, can't tie their own shoelaces. You've created a monster with far more than clever words.

If folk knew what lay ahead after their birth midwives would be having a helluva struggle prising babies from their mothers.
Enjoyed this piece Corset, very much.

yes, they'd need a tractor to pull him out :D Thank you Gee
this is so real...we are born into this world with a lifetime of struggle ahead of us, no matter who we are, no matter poor or born with a silver spoon...
we have to face them....and mothers can whisper to us at birth how everything will be alright, and we will be great people, presidents, successful...loved forever....but we know what is true...
it's a comin'---
nice rationalization....that is filled with truth.
