Have You Heard?

Have You Heard?

A Poem by Corset

He sat there looking like a pint of Jack Daniels
He does not care to disassemble
I close my eyes and summon a thunderstorm
I see the bolt silently split the night sky
a flash, yes, but the clap is so far gone.

It's been numerous cars and years since
his head would grace my lap
his maiden voyage
sailing through the epic quiet
not knowing for sure if he would ever return.

A bare tree does not bear fruit
he says
so I walked a minute into the night
His silhouette freckled with diamonds
shadow dance and circumstance
I can't remember the last time
I felt so pretty, like the stars
too numerous
just a dreamer with a pen
stumbling around the atmosphere.

Friendzone embraced
He learned early on
that if you can make people laugh,
 they will undoubtedly like you
it can't all be a coincidence.

Now that was wonderful. A warm evening under the stars and a thunderstorm in the distance...yep, I can imagine that and then one who has been gone returns and the lightening is not the only spark that happens on this night. "I can't remember the last time I felt so pretty" I loved that line. I can feel how that must have felt, even though I am a guy and far from pretty, I still get it. Really nicely done.
