Humanity is Calling

Humanity is Calling

A Poem by Kelly A. Brown

I can see the tall mountains in the distance,
shaded and covered with dreams
and thoughts and painfully shy feelings.
desperation.

I think the mountain

is
waiting to be climbed and torn up

and finished.

The trees grow tall and the sun
shines through their green summer leaves.

staring up at the sight,

it makes my mind
wander and ponder
and form new ideas
about what is real and what is

fantasy.
people are made of flesh and blood
and hurt and pain

and hard, honest work

and education and laughter

and gut-wrenching heartache

and

everyone who stresses gets

a chronic

ulcer

wound.

and no matter your color
or essence
or creed,
you cry with wet tears and laugh
with a laugh
and the simple learned glide of your tongue
makes words
and those words make
new friends
and

keeps the old.

it can make

you
enemies
and memories

and failed

romance.

and to be ignorant of
flesh and blood
and to hate another for
the glide of their tongue

and their

words
is like hating yourself
and your tears and your
laugh and your own
soul.

I can see the tall mountains in the distance,
shaded and covered with forgotten

childhood and it's

silly

dreams
and thoughts and shy feelings
and
desperation.

The mountain told me

that it's
waiting to be climbed.

do you have the strength

and open

mind

to make it up

alive?
