Untold emotion

Untold emotion

A Poem by CourtniRenee
"

I am not entirely sure if I am angry or sad.

"
I think love
was created for women
with brown eyes.
Or perhaps
for those who can lie
in the grass and watch
the bees carry their burden,
with no regard for tomorrow,
or later, or when.
Or maybe love was meant
for hazy streetlights and empty gardens.
Stars being strained by bare branches.
I wonder how you change.
You say the stars are gone
before we ever see them.
My eyes are a green
sea on a storm tossed
day and I used to
climb trees and
write limericks on
unfallen leaves.
You said you loved
me but I wonder if you
loved an idea instead.
You said you know me, but I wonder
if your knowing snuffed me out.

Thats quite a difference you pointed out.. That of loving someone and the idea of loving someone are two entirely different things... Good work here ....

Hey baby, I have big browns but I've never hit the "Love" jackpot in 60 years of living! *sigh!* I totally relate to your first stanza especially . . . I feel the confusion, the ambivalence, the flip-flopping of how to look at things -- all done with excellent imagery & originality. The second stanza explains some of the backstory behind the pondering in the first stanza. Definitely one of the most original ways to write about being left behind in love. It's crystal clear how this feels.
