King of Hearts

King of Hearts

A Poem by G. Anderson

I can never seem,

     To play the right cards.

I play with you,

And you rip them to shards.

I think you're an ace,

     But you're a joker, two.

Three strikes I'm out,

Four I'm sick and tired of you.

Five times you cared,

     And six times you lied.

I keep losing points,

But I'm a master of disguise.

Seven masks of hate,

     One poker face. My happiness

You all but eight,

     My heart you've misplaced.

Nine lives within me,

     And each is failing fast.

At ten the lights go out,

My hurt back from the past.

You're a terrible jack,

     So dark, clever and bold.

You called me your queen,

     Then my love, stole.

You're still the King of my heart

Very creatively done.. I loved the way you cleverly used numbers within this piece. You've got the rhythm and flow.. and didn't lose the intensity of the emotions that you were trying to put into it.. awesome!
