Heart No Longer Complete

Heart No Longer Complete

A Poem by G. Anderson

The wreck inside her heart,
A tragedy overcoming her mind.
Her words bitter and tart,
She left her hope behind.
He saw her hurt eyes,
He felt her pain so dark.
Sensing her demise,
He gently touched her arm.

Their gazes connected,
Their gazes betrayed,
The love reflected,
Her miserable life saved.
She wanted to live,
She yearned to sing;
She'd reason to give,
To him be something.

He loved her much,
He loved her hair.
He loved her touch,
Her beautiful skin so fair.
She thought to take her life,
To end this horrible agony.
Her broken home in strife,
Nothing left of her family.

But his silken voice,
Reassuring and calm,
Gave her the choice,
As he kissed her shaky palm.
She dropped the metal,
Kissing him hungrily.
Into her room, he settled,
Her eyes closing sleepily.

She was warm and safe,
Nestled in his limbs.
She'd nothing more to chase,
Safe and content with him.
Their hearts beat in unity,
Their souls sung together.
The pain was set free,
As they carefully held each other.

Nothing felt bad,
No feeling out of place.
She still cherishes what they had,
But he had to restart the chase.
So the hate returns,
She becomes the odd one again.
She still yearns,
For that stupid heartbreaking man.

Reality knocked her down,
Damned off her feet.
In her depression, she drowns,
All because of a leech.
Nothing is left of her,
No simple, missing trace.
An empty shell has conquered,
Her chest an empty place.

She lies prostrate,
Her head hung in defeat.
She's loved but hated,
Her Heart's no longer complete.
