Spots of Purple and Blue

Spots of Purple and Blue

A Poem by Matthew
"

This poem is about child abuse.

"

Her body was covered

In spots of purple and blue

She feared every morning

And every evening, too.

Tears poured out

As she begged and pleaded.

Her words fell on deaf ears

Her cries were unheeded.

An inmate from birth

In a prison of torment

Every night she wept

Unsure of what  love meant.

She dreaded poison

The monster consumed

For it was after this

That the suffering resumed.

She feared what would happen

If she told another soul.

Of her innocence

That the monster stole.

. She prayed every day

For the suffering to cease

Knowing all too well

She may never be at ease.

This is such a gut-wrenching write on a very sensitive topic! I loved the flow of the poem and the articulateness with which you conveyed the message! Keep it up!
