Dignity

Dignity

A Poem by Cree Nations
"

never doubt the true inner dignity of a creation

"

…there in the mist I see her.

Out there alone she stands …

It is as if she is beckoning me,

Saying come sit with me.

I am captivated and held by her charm…

Timeless is her name…

That beautiful, majestic Tree.

Old and gnarled with

What some would see

As a grotesque tree…

But oh, not me.

I see her quiet majestic beauty.

A life that has lived the adversity of all the years.

And yet she holds fast to her roots.

Roots that are buried deep in the earth and fed by time.

Above the ground her limbs are there twisted, broken, and worn.

Yet others bud and spring anew

fighting the blight of the disease of age.

And she still stands in the glory of her dignity.

I really felt the impact of your poem here.

It is easy to judge anything or anyone by surface appearances, but much is lost through such haste. The tree is probably old enough to have witnessed the passings of several human generations. It should be accorded its due respect.

Confidence is what I find to be the key to dignity.

I like your writing style. You've got some power lady.
