Waiting (For Precious Moments).

Waiting (For Precious Moments).

A Poem by =

You don't know the half of it,
The nights I cried over you,
How I ran to you, in my thoughts,
Time and time again.

You never knew the things I did,
The nights I died in my mind
To fool myself into being yours,
Just for a few hours.

You couldn't know what was going on,
How I hid away in the shadows,
Waiting in the cold to hear
Even a few words from you.

You wouldn't want to know,
The thoughts I had that were killing me,
The thought of him touching your skin,
And that it would never be me.

Yet, I had to know, my sweet,
That when it came to my heart,
If you knew that you'd stolen it,
As I sat awaiting, those precious moments.

Powerful and sad poetry. Hard when life show us what we don't want to know.
"Yet, I had to know, my sweet,
That when it came to my heart,
If you knew that you'd stolen it,
As I sat awaiting, those precious moments."
The above lines are direct and somethings we must know. Thank you Roy for sharing the excellent poetry.

I am personally not a huge fan of monologue poetry. I'll make and exception for this one though. ;) You can see how the person in the poem pours out their soul as they express themselves. As with H.L. Cerveise, I feel like its a poem about a lost chance. Good writing!

This is such a bittersweet writing. This one for sure is a monologue poem. You pour your heart out, and I can see the sorrow for not telling her. Your line "How I hid away shadows," tells me you blame yourself not speaking up Well at least, this is what I am getting out of this poem.

Well done.
