Lost feelings of Christmas

Lost feelings of Christmas

A Poem by Crosby Idasa
"

This season is special to the Christians

"
I remember when I always pray for Christmas to come
because this season was filled up with happiness and laughter
Friends and family from all parts of the world comes to celebrate with fellows
everybody gets ready to put on that shinning beautiful clothes and with a bright smile of joy
the only place we usually go to is the village where you meet childhood friends and relatives that stayed away
in the village is where we catch different kind of Africa traditional plays like masquerade plays and traditional wrestling
It used to be fun filled, we spend the whole of this seasonal break with our families doing useful works together also
I will adventure with cousins to the next village with our bicycles, just to experience another pattern of same activities
Some days we will go to the farm together and some other days we go to the pounds for fishing also
I miss all of those people, all I mean all of us, some are gone and others are thriving with life
but now I don't feel like to travel no more, I don't even get that feeling of the celebration of Christmas any longer in my heart
I think maturity took away those feelings
or maybe there is a certain time in life when everything changes, or maybe some things changes
you no more want to be seen where you use to chill when you were younger, you no more give a damn about all those moments
you just find out that some of all this celebration will vanish in your sight
But still I will never forget all those memorable time Christmas gave to me
maybe this time is just for kids to be happy because Jesus loves children
now the views are different, you don't want to be seen in some of those arenas, time flies
I remember when I always pray for Christmas to come
but now I don't make such prayers anymore, I don't even want to close my eyes no more, this feeling I use to have is the lost feeling of Christmas...

I don't feel quite the same way about Christmas either now Crosby, that I did when I was much younger. Then it was a time of excitement, partying and big family get togethers. Nowadays it tends to be a much quieter affair altogether. I enjoyed your memories of Christmas in the past and how you feel about the event now. I do think it brings much excitement to children, and probably to be truthful, a bit of a headache for many adults :) All good wishes to you.

I think many adults can relate to your most insightful write. Sometimes I struggle to get into the spirit and hesitate to decorate or put up a tree. What helps me is the music. I think the true spirit of Christmas has been lost in a sea of commercialism and negative politics etc. But you are right to hold on to those childhood memories. Maybe if that is all we can do, it will help bring back the true meaning of the season. God bless and may you find some sense of peace and joy this season and a brighter new year!

Thank you for this review... thanks for your blessings
An interesting look at how views of Christmas change as we age. Of course, no one will retain the feeling for holidays he or she had at the age of six, but there is a certain sadness, captured in this poem, when we think of people and times that are no more.
