Thank You For Asking

Thank You For Asking

A Poem by Deyan

I want to be the kind of teacher

Who sits down and tells my class

“Let me tell you

How I go my tattoo:”

One day, I heard a poem

About how time, too, has density

So I got the density formula

Tattooed on my left wrist

So whenever I look down

To check the time

I’m reminded to use mine

To its full extent

To fill it up until it is dense

And my students,

Your time, too, can be dense

You don’t have to write math on your wrist

Because density

Is merely the amount

Of matter in a given space

And the density of time

Can be measured by

The amount of action you put in it

So go out

And make your time dense

Don’t be afraid

To make mistakes

As long as every moment

You are living

Because the best way to make sure

Nothing you want ever happens

Is to sit by

And watch

And a waste of time is a waste of life

You could be living

So no,

It isn’t there

So you can cheat on your science test

Because you can bet

It will be covered

When test day comes

Because you and I both know

That learning

Is worth your time

Thank you

For asking
