Dirt and Grime

Dirt and Grime

A Poem by MaRy
"

Ok, well, we had to write a poem about World War 1 for social studies. I guess its alright.

"

Lying in the trenches

Our faces in sludge and slime

We load our guns; we realease out fire

Though covred in dirt and grime

Yet sudden panic errupts among us

As the other camp invades

But we're to quick and they retreat

And we throw our hand grenades

Now we're ahead and they're behind

Yet my brothers lay on the ground

Their lifeless faces cold as ice

And I'm not safe and sound

"I'll say a prayr for you, my friend

And my heart will heal in time"

So I load my gun; I release my fire

Still covered in dirt and grime

The only line i really don't like is "and i'm not safe and sound" I couldn't think of anything else. It's about WWI and i had to write it for social studdies.
