Fakes and Lies

Fakes and Lies

A Poem by A.C.
"

The ones who smile most have the deepest cuts.

"
My smiles are as fake as the lies I tell,
The happy words just a glossy coat.
These wounds are cut deep,
Deeper than you'll ever know.

My smiles are a lie,
My words are a lie,
My emotions are a lie,
My hopes are a lie.

The things I say
Are artificial,
The things I do,
They're unreal.

The way I walk,
The way I talk,
The way I feel,
It's just an outer layer.

The life I live
Is just a disguise.
The way you see me,
Well, I ain't what I ought to be.

My smiles are as fake as the lies I tell,
The happy words just a glossy coat.
These wounds cut deep,
Deeper than you'll ever know.

The way I walk,
It's fake.
The way I talk,
Just a lie.

There's a new Dawn,
I'm not in it,
So I fake it,
Fake it with my lies.

There's a new World,
They shut the gates on me.
So I fake it,
Fake it with my lies.

The laughter,
The smiles,
The cheery atmosphere.
It ain't really me.

Let's just
Fake it.
I'll just
Fake it.

This is just a lie.
Just a fake.
Just a little lie.
Just a bit fake.

My smiles are as fake as the lies I tell,
The happy words just a glossy coat.
These wounds cut deep,
Deeper than you'll ever know.

If the door's locked
I'll just pretend to unlock.
If the clock stops,
I won't really fix it.

I'm a little
Faker,
Liar,
Cheater.

But we're all a little
Fake.
And we all sometimes
Lie.

Just fakes,
Just lies,
Fake it,
Lie.

Fake it,
Just fake it,
Fake it,
And lie.
