Dad Says ---

Dad Says ---

A Poem by Wild Rose
"

Problems with outsiders interfering in a workers pat dispute

"

We ran a small firm making dried and silk flower displays

Two girls waked out on us to work in a factory packing ready meals

Dont look left or right Dont talk or sing

Cant go to the toilet unless some one takes over

Dont let items go down the belt

Keep packing the boxes Make sure they have every item

We advertised _ a girl came; a hair dresser (A good one)

She had developed problems related to the chemicals

Give her a try > we used perfumes and dried flowers

Christmas came we needed another temporary worker

Mum can do it > We gave her a try

Last few weeks we went on overtime

Then we closed Christmas Eve until after New Year

Dad says you have to give me a rise you have to double the wage

You have  twenty four hours to think about it

Next day have you thought about my pay rise

Yes you will have to wait until nearer mothers day when things pick up

She put her coat on and walked out

Three days later a form from the employment office

Why was she unemployed

My reply was truth she walked out over a demand for higher pay

We were going to take on another worker

I knew the result would be

No unemployment benefit for three months

Mother came round - Why had we sacked her

She wasnt sacked

Dad had told her to demand more money or leave

Go and sort dad out not us
