The Storm

The Storm

A Poem by Wild Rose
"

Thanks to Christine for the inspiration

"
He pounded my ears so
Then I awoke to silence
Had I gone deaf?
Dark was within the room?
Tis early yet.
First workers have not yet risen

I lay there still lest I wake my sleeping love
Till the alarm woke up
Music, talking,
What did he say
High roads closed
Nay you don't want the low road
That is the spirit road
The road of the dead
As any good Scot will tell 'ye'

Ah I can hear the radio
I'm not deaf
Nor dead
I' alive and well

But!
Is it raining?

This is the most poetic thing I've seen from you! Your usual trademark is to be straightforward, but this is surprisingly whimsical. I love how you write in wispy phrases of imagery, rather than your usual more analytical style of complex sentences. I am a straightforward person myself, so I always enjoy your usual style of writing. It's just fun & interesting to see you try this differently. It's like I can read more than one idea into the point you're making, so it makes a reader ponder (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

alive and well and ready to put the pieces back together after the storm...i see this as allegory...
a storm in a relationship....comes and goes...and hopefully we have enough left in the aftermath to rebuild.
nicely done, Wild Rose,

fun and entertaining to read ... my dog wakes me up with his soft cold wet nose barely touching my face ....according to the Ozone levels .. before the first great booming .. but just as effective if not more so ... of course its raining ;)

The initial blur upon waking. You've painted an early morning hypnagogic reverie & have done it very well.

Aye we get plenty of wild weather here - Another storm building up now
I also awoke early to the voice of the radio and listened to find out how the storm was raging. Some areas had more wind than rain. We had both. Always concerned about the flooding of homes.

I like the way you found yourself in the middle of the storm and your reactions. Early morning, yet so much going on. Thank you for the mention Wild Rose. Pleased my lines inspired you to pick up your pen. Get ready for the next onslaught with Dennis arriving at the weekend.
